Join the League of Women Voters and be a part of an organization that:

EMPOWERS millions of voters to exercise their right to vote by holding voter registration drives, sponsoring candidate forums and debates, and educating the public about their rights on Election Day.

PROTECTS the right to vote against threats and ensures that every vote is counted by fighting for and implementing voting systems that are free, fair, and accessible.

ADVOCATES for positive change at the local, state, and national level on issues such as education, government accountability, and money in politics.

FOSTERS civil dialogue about important community issues, such as government spending, climate change, immigration, and civil liberties.

Now more than ever…

The League is the most respected and effective grassroots organization in our country. Your membership gives the League the influence needed to build a voice for democracy and be a force for change.

We are:

NONPARTISAN - The League does not support or oppose candidates or political parties. The Leage does work to influence public policy through education and advocacy.

GRASSROOTS - League members themselves choose which public policy issues will be targeted for study and action.

FULLY COMMITTED TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION IN PRINCIPLE AND PRACTICE - Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the organization’s current and future success in engaging all individuals, households, communities, and policy makers in creating a more perfect democracy.

MULTI-ISSUE - The League takes action on a broad range of issues, from violence prevention to polution control, campaign finance reform, and local school referenda.

INFORMATIVE - The League registers voters, sponsors candidate debates, publishes voters guides and public policy research, and holds conferences on key issues.

INFLUENTIAL - The Leage lobbies elected officials and works in coalition with others to press its agenda in Washington, Springfield, and local communities.

INTERCONNECTED - When you join, you become a member of a local League in your community, the Illinois League, and the League of Women Voters of the US.
